Indulgence you can only imagine…

23rd August 2004

How time flies when you’re having fun. So much fun. More fun than I’ve had for some time - in a big block anyway. One big, bad block of fun. I barely touched the laptop, and went nowhere near the office. Instead I split my time between London, the South coast and good old Nottingham. Low cost, cheap thrills and very little effort.

I made it down to Brighton, but sadly not in time to honour my geekend invite. So I spent some quality time down on the Southern beaches with Emma (you’ve been blogged), before making my merry way to join her in London’s villagey Crouch End for a few more days of not doing very much at all. I say not much, but we did do a lot of drinking (including a whole bottle of Absinthe!), smoking, eating…and more drinking.

I also saw Gobsausage again, at the Funny Farm noise-fest over at Bistrotheque, Wadeson Street. Bit strange seeing them on their home turf - all the freaks were out, and support from Gene Serene was ear-shatteringly good. Unfortunately, some curfew shenanigans robbed Gobsausage of their whole set, which sadly didn’t lead to a riot. Nevermind, you can’t have everything…

I loved Brighton. Wasn’t expecting to get there at all, but managed a brief stay under sunny skies. If you’ve never been, here’s what it’s like in a nutshell: bright, bold and busy; full of dinky little pubs and cool bars; loads of great places to eat; rammed with great-looking flats, apartments, window-boxy balconies etc; a mountain bike locked to every single railing (Brighton folk like their bikes); two piers - one thriving, one burned and crumpled. Generally, I’d love to live there, which is the best complement I can offer.

Anything else? Hmm. Watched X-Men 2, which was top-quality escapism. Bought a new bed (I’ve slept on a cheap futon for three years). Caught up with some good friends and drank lots of beer. Enjoyed the Speakers DJs at The Social. Drove around the Peak District for hours and hours. More? Oh, I couldn’t possibly share everything with you…

Anyway, I’m back on the blog. Stand by for new news very soon, including more about our latest web job - for the UK’s current hottest rock ‘n roll band. Come back, Pete…

Could you be refering to The Libertines per chance? Do tell more!

Getting a strange glitch in Firefox (PC) with this comment preview thing - it’s putting the ads by google over this text as i type. Very odd.

Hey, you’ll just have to wait until I reveal more about the web job. As for the Firefox glitch, I see something similar on Firefox Mac. But I see a big gap just above the comment box that disappears if you scroll. Odd. Thanks for the tip-off, will look into it at some point…

I know, but it was just a day travelling through, and I was spending a bit of quality time with a friend. One things for sure, it’s not the last time I’ll be in Brighton.

You were sadly missed! :o(

I like ‘Code-Smiths’. Code-Smithery…hmmm we should do something with that title….
