Music Monthlies: May 2007 - Bumper Spring Issue!
5th May 2007
Everyone’s least favourite irregular regular column is back, by popular demand (well, several emails and a few CDs through the post). Yes, after a hiatus of some months due to over-work, family woes and all manner of stress, I’ve dragged my Music Monthlies back into the slimelight, kickstarting a Summer of wearing my musical discovery on my mucky sleeve. I’ve quite a backlog, so get a pot of tea on and settle in. Oh, your lucky ears…

The Laziest Music Monthly Ever
28th January 2007
For those that email and ask me what happened to Music Monthlies, I bring you a lazy update. No links, no info, just my January playlist. New bands, or old bands with good new albums.
Cold War Kids / Midlake / Mates Of State / The Maccabees / Regina Spektor / CSS (yes, the band) / Gruff Rhys / Peter, Bjorn and John / Brakes / DJ Shadow / Tom Waits / Camera Obscura / The Decemberists / Jarvis Cocker / Enter Shikari / Union Of Knives / The Cooper Temple Clause / Tokyo Police Club / The American Analog Set / Howling Bells.
Job done. Be equally lazy and don’t bother commenting. Or, tip me off if I’m missing something good (do NOT mention anything to do with Damon All Bran, anyone called Jamie or Jack, anything overtly “emo”, or anything from 2006).

Music Monthlies: April 2006
27th April 2006
My mind isn’t really on music right now (it’s been a bad day). Still, I’ve compiled a few choice cuts for you music monthlies fans to embrace or ignore.

Music Monthlies: March 2006
31st March 2006
OK. Recent Monthlies have been a bit underwhelming. Blame music, not me. Luckily I have found plenty to waffle on about this month, thanks to some big returns and inspiring debuts. Hey, I don’t even hate anyone this month. It’s “all too beautiful”, as Steve Marriott said. Or is it “not too beautiful”, as proclaimed by the Beta Band? Conondrum. Anyway, lets get on with it…

Music Monthlies: February 2006
26th February 2006
Not a classic Music Monthly this month, folks. I’ve managed to slice a deep cut into my finger whilst making one of my trademark winter stews, so I’m feeling feint after much blood-loss, and typing is less than easy right now.

Music Monthlies: January 2006
29th January 2006
January’s Music Monthly sees me finally able to talk about some new albums that I haven’t been listening to for ages because of course there is no method of obtaining new music on the internet before it is released…

Music Yearly: 2005
31st December 2005
It’s my fantastic end of year review, the bumper hard-back annual to accompany the regular monthlies that you all pretend to love so much. Note that I am publishing my Yearly on the 31st of December, unlike others that get their lists in way too early and could so easily miss that great album that comes out between Xmas and New year. Yet again, this hasn’t materialised, but my integrity is still intact. Anyway, here we go. This is for you, Grandchildren…

Music Monthlies: November 2005
30th November 2005
Alas, this month’s Music Monthlies is a bit light. November’s been a month where finding new music has been far from a priority. Still, let’s see what’s stuck in my brain…

Music Monthlies: October 2005
27th October 2005
So last month I waxed lyrical about the new Elbow album (27 days before Oxton - old git). Bizarrely, it’s still getting heavy rotation here in Nottingham, but thankfully a plethora of other bands have been shoving their musical oars in throughout October…

Music Monthlies: September 2005
29th September 2005
Last month I was a bit hung up on old stuff, aside from the brilliant new album from Sigur Ros. This month it’s all new, although I’m aprehensive about saying anything ever since a comment troll arrived to diss my music taste. Oh well, fuck him.
